Compressor specifications tend to be written about air. The part that decides whether a three-phase machine survives its first year in a working shop is usually electrical, and it is where this unit is better specified than the summary suggests: a TEFC, IP55-rated motor, a magnetic starter fitted from the factory, and automatic starters that detect phase and sequence failure before the machine turns.

Behind that protection is an oil-injected rotary air end delivering 74 CFM at 125 PSI on a 100% duty cycle, mounted on a 120-gallon horizontal ASME receiver, and running from a 208-230V three-phase supply. A 12-month warranty is stated.

Why the motor enclosure rating matters in a shop

TEFC means totally enclosed, fan cooled: the motor windings are sealed away from the air around them and cooled by a fan blowing over the outside of the frame rather than through the windings. IP55 describes what that enclosure keeps out — dust in quantity, and water arriving as jets rather than as a mist.

Those are not abstractions in this environment. A compressor lives in the dirtiest air in the building, near grinding, sanding and blasting work, and it is usually the machine nearest the pressure washer. An open motor drawing shop air through its windings collects everything that air is carrying, and it fails from contamination long before it fails from work. A sealed motor is one of the least glamorous and most decisive specifications on a machine like this.

Phase and sequence protection, and what it prevents

Two supply faults are genuinely destructive to a three-phase compressor, and neither announces itself.

The first is a lost phase. A motor running on two of its three phases draws heavily on those that remain and overheats, while sounding more or less normal to anyone walking past. It can destroy a motor in a single shift.

The second is reversed rotation. A screw air end turned backwards is not doing a lesser version of its job — it is being damaged, and quickly. On a machine wired in a hurry, or reconnected after a panel change, rotation is exactly what gets assumed rather than checked.

The starters here detect both conditions and refuse to run. That is protection with a clear price attached: it is cheaper than one air end.

What continuous duty means for the air you get

Rated at a 100% duty cycle, this machine is designed to run continuously rather than to run and cool. Screw compression is inherently continuous — air is trapped and squeezed between two meshing rotors along their length, with no reciprocating mass and no thermal stop-start cycle to respect.

The output difference you notice day to day is steadiness. Air arrives at a consistent pressure instead of in pulses, which every regulator, every spray gun and every air-driven tool downstream prefers. The air end is belt driven with a solid cast iron pump, and an oil sight glass is fitted so the most consequential maintenance check on the machine takes a moment rather than a shutdown.

Will It Fit?

The unit measures 58.5 in long by 30.3 in wide by 39.8 in high and weighs 1146 lbs, delivered as one 2-In-1 skid with air end, motor and receiver already assembled — nothing to plumb together on site. Set it on sound, level concrete, leave room around the cabinet for cooling airflow and service access, and match your shop main to the 1-inch tank outlet rather than restricting the machine at its own connection. Stated ambient operating limit is 113 °F, which is a design ceiling for your ventilation rather than a normal running condition.

Electrically, this is the 208-230V three-phase build. Our record deliberately gives amp draw and recommended breaker as figures to confirm with a certified electrician instead of printing them, because they depend on your run length and on local code. The supply, disconnect, overcurrent protection and conductors are the customer's responsibility and need a licensed electrician. Check what your panel is actually fed at before ordering — the motor is wound for this supply and it is not a field conversion.

Moisture, and the two things not in the box

An aftercooler is fitted, which cools the discharge air at the machine so the moisture it carries condenses there and drains, instead of arriving in your pipework. That is a substantial improvement over a machine without one, and it is not the same as drying the air. Our specification record lists no air dryer and no electronic drain valve on this configuration, so receiver draining is a manual routine somebody has to own, and moisture-sensitive work needs a dryer added.

A small inconsistency in our data

The manufacturer's overview gives the sound-attenuated cabinet as 69 dB(A). A separate noise field on our record shows a slightly lower number for the same machine. It is a small enough difference not to change where you would put the compressor, and we mention it because it is better coming from us than being noticed later: if you are working to a written noise limit in a lease or a local rule, ask us to confirm the figure from the manufacturer specification sheet.

The 120-gallon receiver is ASME certified. That covers the pressure vessel — its design, material, fabrication and inspection — and it is a genuine third-party code requirement rather than a manufacturer's own assertion. It is the certification that inspectors and insurers ask about, because the vessel is the part storing the energy.

It says nothing about the machine as an electrical assembly, and our data claims no listing of that kind for this package. Warranty

This unit is listed with a 12-month warranty. Keep the electrical sign-off from commissioning and start the service log immediately; on this class of machine those two documents are what make a claim straightforward. If a fault appears, contact us before anything is opened. Do not dismantle the air end, the separator or the electrical panel ahead of a claim — equipment that has already been apart is a much harder case to argue.
