Description
-Quincy 573DS80VCA46 QP Pro 7.5 HP, 80-Gallon Pressure Lubricated Two-Stage Air Compressor (460V, 3-Phase)
Most extended warranties are a card in the box that nobody posts. Quincy's is different in a way that changes what you buy on the day: the 1-year factory warranty on this compressor extends to a 3-year "No Bull" warranty only if the EWK-6 maintenance kit is purchased at the same time as the machine and the unit is registered with the manufacturer. Miss either step and the extension is gone, and it cannot be bought back afterwards. What you get in return is coverage that includes on-site and labour service, which on a 720 lbs machine bolted to a shop floor is the difference between a warranty that helps and a warranty that just replaces a part.
Underneath that, this is the 460V three-phase build of the QP Pro: a pressure-lubricated two-stage cast-iron pump on an 80-gallon vertical receiver, working to 175 PSI, driven by a 7.5 HP motor.
Read the Warranty Before You Read the Spec Sheet
It is an unusual thing to lead with, but it is the fact most likely to cost a buyer money on this particular product. The maintenance kit requirement is not a formality: it exists because Quincy is willing to stand behind a three-year term on the condition that the compressor is actually serviced, and the kit is how they make that likely. Registration is the other half, and it has to happen at the unit rather than at the invoice.
Order the kit with the compressor. Keep the invoice for both together. Register the machine when it is commissioned, not when it fails. Details are in the warranty documentation supplied with the unit, and the terms there govern.
Why This One Is 460V
A 7.5 HP motor wound for 460V draws roughly half the current of the same motor wound for a lower voltage. That means smaller conductors, a smaller disconnect and much less voltage drop over a long run from the panel, which matters in a plant where the compressor room is nowhere near the switchgear. If your building distributes 460V, this is the correct member of the family; if it does not, no amount of rewiring at the machine will make it correct.
Quincy publishes no fixed breaker rating and refers the installation to a certified electrician, which is the right answer, because the correct overcurrent protection depends on conductor size, run length and local code. A magnetic starter is supplied with the compressor, giving thermal overload protection and proper contactor-controlled starting.
The Lubrication System
The QP Pro designation comes from full pressure lubrication. A gerotor positive displacement oil pump, driven from the crankshaft, delivers a fixed volume of oil per revolution to the crankshaft, bearings and rods, instead of the splash arrangement that flings oil from a dipper and depends on level and speed. Quincy quantifies the benefit as up to 15% longer life than a splash-lubricated unit. A spin-on oil filter runs in the same circuit, so wear metal is captured continuously rather than circulating until the next drain.
Pump, Valves and Cooling
The pump is belt driven, two-stage and cast iron with an aluminium head, so the cylinders stay dimensionally stable while the head sheds heat. Stainless steel reed valves run with valve bumpers that cap reed lift, which is the failure mode that ends most valve sets, and graphite cylinder and head gaskets keep their seal through repeated heat cycling.
Between the stages, a high-efficiency fin and tube intercooler is cooled by an electronically balanced fan-type cast-iron flywheel that also drives air over the cylinders and heads. Dropping interstage temperature is what makes a two-stage pump efficient: the high-pressure cylinder receives cool, dense air rather than hot, expanded air, so it reaches 175 PSI with less work, and a large part of the water content condenses out before it can reach your tank and your lines.
Will It Fit?
The receiver stands upright, so you are trading floor area for height: 37" long by 24" wide, 74" tall, 720 lbs. Check the ceiling first, and allow working clearance above the machine for head and belt access rather than only enough to stand it up. Put it on a flat, level, load-bearing floor and leave room at the base for the drain.
Electrical supply, site preparation and permitting are the customer's responsibility. Confirm the service voltage at the panel before ordering, since a 460V machine cannot be run on a lower-voltage supply.
Perfect For
- Plants and industrial buildings already running 460V distribution.
- Operations with a preventive maintenance programme that will genuinely use the kit and earn the extended term.
- Compressor rooms sited a long way from the electrical panel, where lower current saves real money in wire.
- Production and fabrication work needing steady pressure across a whole shift.
What's in the Box
A complete tank-mounted compressor: pressure-lubricated two-stage cast-iron pump, gerotor oil pump, spin-on oil filter, 7.5 HP motor with belt drive and guard, fin and tube intercooler, cast-iron flywheel, magnetic starter, and the 80-gallon vertical receiver. The EWK-6 maintenance kit required for the extended warranty is a separate purchase and is not included. Nor are shop piping, a disconnect, a dryer or downstream filtration.

Certification, Honestly
The manufacturer's data records an ASME marking on the pressure vessel and a CSA marking with it. These answer different questions. A pressure vessel certification concerns how the receiver was designed, welded and inspected against a boiler and pressure vessel code. An electrical safety marking concerns the motor and control equipment. Neither implies the other, and neither says anything about how the compressor is installed in your building.
Confirm both on the data plate attached to the machine when it arrives, because that plate is what an inspector, an insurer or a plant safety officer will actually read. Where a specific listing is a condition of your insurance, your local code or a corporate equipment standard, check it against the plate before the electrician terminates anything.
Shipping and Delivery
Freight only, lower 48 states. The compressor weighs 720 lbs and ships standing on a pallet, so unloading means a forklift, a dock, or a pickup arranged at the freight terminal. A residential delivery attracts a residential fee.
Inspect the shipment before the driver leaves and record what you find on the bill of lading. Tall pallets get knocked: look at the guards, look for a receiver that has moved in its bracing, look for oil on the deck. A clean signature makes a later claim very hard to win.
Warranty
As set out above, this compressor carries a 1-year factory warranty extending to a 3-year "No Bull" warranty when the EWK-6 kit is purchased with the machine and the unit is registered with Quincy, with the extended term including on-site and labour service. The manufacturer's warranty handbook supplied with the unit is the governing document.
Whatever the fault, raise the claim before anything is taken apart. A pump or motor opened ahead of inspection is the most common reason a legitimate claim is refused.
