The feature on this compressor that will change your working day is the mounted air-cooled aftercooler. Compressed air leaves a two-stage pump hot and saturated; as it cools in the receiver and the pipework, that moisture condenses into liquid water and goes wherever your air goes. An aftercooler drops the temperature before the receiver, so most of the water separates out at the machine instead of at your tools. On a 10 HP 230V unit this is normally an accessory somebody adds after the first ruined spray job. Here it is fitted, alongside a 1750 RPM industrial motor and a 120-gallon receiver rated for 100% continuous duty.

Water is the enemy, and this is where you beat it

Every compressor makes water. The air it draws in carries humidity, compression concentrates it, and the hotter the discharge the more of it stays suspended as vapour until it condenses somewhere inconvenient — in a die grinder, in a paint line, in the bottom of a receiver where it rusts steel from the inside. Treating that downstream with filters and dryers works, but every one of those devices is sized on how much water arrives at it. Cool the air at the compressor and you reduce the load on everything after it, which is why an aftercooler is the least expensive water treatment on any system.

Working with it are a high-efficiency fin and tube intercooler between the two compression stages and cast-iron cylinders that hold their geometry through the temperature swings. Interstage cooling is not only about moisture: cooler, denser air entering the second stage is air the pump does not have to work as hard to compress.

The shutdown that saves the pump

The second thing worth knowing is that this machine is designed to stop itself. A low oil protection device shuts the compressor down rather than letting the pump run without lubrication, which is the failure mode that converts a service call into a replacement machine. A magnetic starter adds thermal overload protection on the motor, dropping the contactor when current exceeds what it should be — a protection a simple pressure switch cannot provide, and one that matters most on three-phase power where a lost leg is silent until the windings are ruined. A spin-on oil filter keeps the abrasive fraction of shop air out of the bearings.

None of this is exciting to read. All of it is the difference between a compressor that reports a problem and a compressor that becomes one, and on a machine specified for continuous running it is not optional.

Will It Fit?

Footprint is a horizontal 120-gallon receiver, 78 inches long by 28 inches wide by 55 inches high, weighing 850 lbs before oil. Give it room to be serviced where it stands — belt guard, sight glass and filter access — and keep the cooling airflow clear, which matters more on this build than most because the aftercooler is part of the cooling package. The tank outlet is 3/4-inch and maximum working pressure is 175 PSI.

Supply is 230V 3-phase. Verify that at your panel rather than inferring it from another machine, because the alternative shop three-phase voltage is genuinely different and the wrong match shows up as hard starting and a hot motor. The magnetic starter is fitted. Breaker and conductor sizing is a certified electrician job against your real service — the manufacturer says exactly that rather than printing a figure that cannot know your run length. Confirming supply, doorway width, access route and floor loading before ordering is the buyer responsibility.

Oil, hose, a dryer, filtration, a regulator and an isolation valve are not listed as included in the documentation we hold, so treat them as separate purchases and check with us first if one of them gates your install.

Where Our Records Disagree

Before you order, there are two items on this listing where our sources contradict each other. We would rather show you the disagreement than publish whichever version reads better.

How the pump is lubricated. The manufacturer feature list and the description on this page both call this a fully pressure-lubricated machine with a positive-displacement oil pump feeding the crankshaft, bearings and rods. The specification data we hold records the oil system as splash lubricated instead. Those are two different designs, not two ways of saying the same thing, so we are not going to pick one for you. If the lubrication system is part of why you are buying this compressor, ask us and we will get it confirmed by Quincy in writing before you order.

The tank drain. The same split appears on the automatic electronic tank drain: the feature list and the specification table say it is fitted, one line of our own data says it is not. Same answer — we will confirm it rather than guess.

Neither point affects the capacity, the receiver, the electrical supply or the warranty, all of which are consistent across every source we have.

Certification, Stated Plainly

The specification sheet records ASME, UL and CSA marks. Each has a narrower scope than buyers usually assume. ASME is a pressure vessel certification and applies to the receiver — design, material and construction — which is what an inspector or an insurer will ask about on a tank this size. The electrical marks cover motor and control components. None of the three says anything about the quality of the air produced, none of them removes a local permitting requirement, and none of them substitutes for a periodic pressure vessel inspection where one is required. Shipping and Delivery

Freight only, to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout for your address. Two things to arrange before the truck is booked. The first is how the machine comes off it: a forklift or a loading dock at the delivery point, or collection from the freight terminal if you have neither at the site. The second is the address type, because a residential delivery is a different operation for a carrier and carries a residential fee — tell us the truth about the destination and the quote will be right the first time.

At delivery, inspect before signing. Bent guards, a cracked gauge, oil on the wrap, a dented receiver corner: all of it goes on the bill of lading before the driver pulls away. That single habit is the difference between a freight claim that settles and one that goes nowhere.

Warranty

Quincy provides a 1-year factory warranty, extending to the 3-year No Bull warranty when the unit is registered with Quincy and maintained with Quincy kits. Register it the week it lands; the extension depends on it and nobody has ever successfully backdated the form. If a fault does appear, please call us before the pump or starter is taken apart. Manufacturers decline claims on dismantled machines more often than for any other single reason, and that is a wholly avoidable way to lose your cover.
